Overview
US Federal Grants Lite — DYONYSOS
The free edition, with no time limit and no cap. It keeps the register of US federal grants received by an organization: what was awarded, for what period, split into which budget lines, and what has been spent against it.
Labels are in French — as is the catalog — and cite the original term in parentheses, because that is the term found on the contract award notice and on government forms.
What the free edition does
The awards register. Federal Award Identification Number (FAIN), Assistance Listing number (formerly CFDA), awarding agency, Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), award date, federal share, required cost share. An award received from a pass-through entity is declared as such: its obligations are not the same.
The period of performance. Start, end, days remaining, and a flag set every night on expired periods. The definition used is the one in 2 CFR 200.1: “the time interval between the start and end date of a Federal award”.
The budget by object class. The nine categories in section B of form SF-424A — Personnel, Fringe Benefits, Travel, Equipment, Supplies, Contractual, Construction, Other, Indirect Charges. The form's two total lines are not included: they are calculated.
Related expenditures. Each on its own budget line, with its date, its supporting document and its federal share entered separately from the amount: mixing the two distorts every subsequent financial report.
Progress checkpoints. A self-reported completion rate and a progress report, both dated. The rate is not derived from the budget consumed: it is the gap between the two that carries information.
The module records findings; it does not draw conclusions
This is the rule that governs the entire app, and it shows on screen. An expense dated outside the period of performance is flagged, never rejected: 2 CFR part 200 leaves it to the agency, in the terms of the award, to state which pre-award costs are allowable. An overrun budget line is counted, never blocked. The app says “expenses linked to this budget line exceed its budgeted amount”; it does not say “this expense is unallowable”, because it has no way of knowing.
What the free edition does not do
No indirect costs or negotiated rate (NICRA), no cost-share or in-kind contribution register, no subrecipients or monitoring, no drawdowns, no SF-425 or SF-270 periodic reports, no audit threshold determination, and no connection to federal services — Grants.gov, SAM.gov, USAspending.gov. All of this is provided by the full edition dyo_subventions_us, which installs on top of this one without asking for anything again.
Free means free
No time limit, no cap on awards, budget lines or expenses, no advertising banner in the work screens. This is not a trial.
Caveat
This app has not been tested against an actual filing with a federal agency. It keeps an internal register and files no return. The regulatory values it cites are sourced; those that could not be sourced are reported as not found rather than guessed.
