Cash Position and Due Dates for Odoo Community — track every bank account, cash box and short-term deposit, enter the bank statement balance by hand, compare it with the accounting balance, see the gap, and read open customer and supplier due dates straight from the journal entries. No forecast, no API, no second ledger.
Overview
Treasury — cash position and due dates, for free
“How much do we have, across all accounts, this morning?” Odoo Community can keep a bank journal but cannot answer that question. The Accounting dashboard shows one chart per journal, covering the past thirty days, based on statement lines. It is a rear-view mirror, and there is one per bank.
Also searched as: Odoo cash position, Odoo consolidated bank balance, Odoo customer and vendor payment schedule, cash position Odoo Community, Odoo bank balance tracking, Odoo cash aged balance.
Two balances, and the gap between them
The book balance and the bank balance never quite match: a check issued but not yet cashed, a transfer entered the day before, a direct debit cleared by the bank but not yet recorded. This module therefore tracks both.
The book balance is calculated from the posted entries of the journal's default account. Drafts are excluded: an unposted entry has not left the bank.
The statement balance is entered manually, dated on the statement date. It is what the bank says, and it prevails when it exists.
The variance is displayed. It is not explained: explaining it would mean guessing what is in transit, and a guess presented as fact is worse than a visible variance.
Deadlines are looked up, never copied
A due-date schedule kept alongside the accounting is wrong by the second week, because nobody keeps two ledgers. This module's list of due items is an SQL view on the journal entries: it is not entered, not stored, and cannot drift. A posted, unreconciled invoice appears in it for its amount due, not its total — a half-paid invoice counts for half.
The sign carries the meaning: a positive balance due is a receivable, money coming in; a negative balance due is a payable. The delay is counted in days and displayed as is, without comment — a three-day delay may be nothing more than a bank processing delay, and this module cannot know.
What the free base does not do
It reports, it does not project. There is no rolling forecast here, no recurring flows, no credit lines, no bank covenants, and no multi-currency consolidation backed by a rate provider. Conversion into the company currency uses the rates already recorded in Odoo, and nothing else: no network call leaves this module.
These features are in Treasury — forecast, credit lines and covenants, which sits on top of this one without moving anything.
Not proven in production
This module is proven by its automated tests on a fresh Odoo 19 database. It has not been run for a full quarter by a real user, and we would rather say so here than let you find out.
